Church chief charged with little one rape in US

The chief of a world spiritual organisation is being held within the US on expenses of human trafficking, little one rape and different felonies.

Naasón Joaquín García, who heads La Luz del Mundo (The Gentle of the World), was arrested after arriving at Los Angeles airport, California prosecutors mentioned.

Mr García, often known as “the Apostle” amongst his followers, and his three feminine co-defendants are dealing with 26 expenses.

La Luz del Mundo mentioned it was assured Mr García could be confirmed harmless.

The organisation, which has headquarters in Mexico, says it has greater than one million followers across the globe.

Lately its affect has unfold to the US, notably in components of California with giant Hispanic populations.

What are the fees?

In a press release launched on Tuesday, California Lawyer Normal Xavier Becerra mentioned Mr García, a Mexican nationwide, and the three ladies allegedly dedicated 26 felonies in southern California between 2015 and 2018.

These included human trafficking, manufacturing of kid intercourse abuse pictures and forcible rape of a minor.

The defendants are accused of coercing minor ladies into performing intercourse acts. The ladies had been reportedly informed that in the event that they went in opposition to the desires of “the Apostle” they might be going in opposition to God.

“Crimes like these alleged… don’t have any place in our society. Interval,” Mr Becerra mentioned.

Mr García’s co-defendants have been named as Alondra Ocampo, Azalea Rangel Meléndez and Susana Medina Oaxaca. They’re all affiliated with La Luz del Mundo.

How has la Luz del Mundo responded?

In a press release [in Spanish], the organisation denied all the fees.

“We categorically reject the false allegations made in opposition to our brother Naasón Joaquín García,” the assertion reads.

“In adherence to the Christian values our church preaches and practises, we reject any conduct which violates individuals’s dignity,” it added.

The fundamentalist Christian organisation was based in 1926 by Mr García’s grandfather, Eusebio Joaquín González.

It describes itself as a “resurgence of the early Christian church”.

Ladies cowl their heads throughout providers and sit individually from the boys.

Throughout its annual gathering in Mexico’s Guadalajara, which La Luz del Mundo calls “holy convocation”, organisation leaders holds mass baptisms and what they name a “holy supper”.
